This book has a lot more to it than the film of the same name - life is just so much more complicated for Sophy. Having started with one imaginary boyfriend, her lies snowball! Josh has a gorgeous, dry sense of humour, and is thankfully not the type to give up easily, so the ending is never really in doubt, but the story of getting there has some seriously amusing twists. Sophy is great, and she has terrific friends who aid and abet her (and sometimes add to her problems) in the saga of trying not to lose what she finds she really, really wants...(and who can blame her - he's delicious!)

This is very different from the film -setting, characterisation of main characters, backstory - so you won't get a written word version of the movie. However, I liked it and enjoyed the back and forth of the romance. It made me smile over the course of an afternoon and I liked the heroine so much I bought a couple more Liz Young books.Fun, smoothly written, engaging characters and a sexy hero without anything too explicit - you could do a lot worse.

The Wedding Date film is one of my all time favourites. I read the book wondering how like the film it would be. I found the story exciting as it went along, although I did get slightly confused by all the characters. Loved the ending.....who said romance was dead!!!!

I think this is a prime example of the book being best. I got this book after watching the film which I loved but was quite amazed by the differences. The basic premise of girl hiring an escort as a stand in boyfriend for a family wedding is still the main theme but there are so many changes that at times I wondered how they could even use the title.
However, all that apart I thought the book was brilliant. I loved Liz Young's style and characterisation, I mean Josh - come on what a gorgeous guy!
Sophy, the main character who tries to fool her family into believing she had a boyfriend is funny, insecure, slightly bonkers but basically a good sort. Her family are very endearing and sweet though the sister's a bit suspect as you will see when she truly puts the cat amongst the pigeons!
Josh is an absolute babe who comes to her aid time and time again until you think 'Sophy - wake up' I mean he's not doing all that for nothing is he?
I loved the incidental characters Ace, Alix and Tamara who all kept the story rolling along. All in all a great read, must get more Liz Young books if this is an example.

I thought the film was funny so thought the book would probably be better. Unfortunately this is one instance when the film makers actually made a better film - in my view. If you like romantic novels, you will probably like this, its reasonably well written with a good story.
