Shelby Coles (Halle Berry) is engaged to marry talented white jazz musician Meade Howell, but the pair face opposition from both Meade's family, who object to an inter-racial marriage, and Shelby's parents, who want her to marry a professional. Format:VHS Tape
This is a wonderful movie about a young girl who finds, just days before her wedding, that the world is not as beautiful and sweet as she thinks, and that racism is alive, even in her family. She also learns that no matter what, love and being true to your self is most important. Nice, romantic and realistic movie.

Not a bad film. It highlighted the prejudices in the black community very well. Nothing's really changed there. I wish there were more films on mixed race relationships, especially black women with white men, as my Mother and I both married white men.
It would have been nice to see how the man's parents reacted too to the relationship, if only briefly, as it made story telling 1 dimensional.
There are significant cultural differences between the US & UK, so at times it was difficult to relate it to any personal experiences.
A reasonably well told story, but rather slow and long.

The wedding DVD
The wedding DVD was very interesting to watch, but kept cutting out half way through. So I am not sure how it ends.

this movie is a beautiful movie and i would recommend this movie to anyone. i love this movie and i can truly relate to it.
