Product Description

This book contains the essential tools, tips, checklists & tests to help you make a fulltime income as a non-fiction author. The publishing game is changing. The playing field has been flattened. There has never been a better time to be a non-fiction author ...if you know the new rules! Renegade publishers, Debbie Jenkins and Joe Gregory, share their hard-won experience.

From the Author

The Wealthy Author is NOT for people who...

 • Think a book should just do well because it's `good' and marketing is no task for a `proper' author
 • Expect somebody else (publisher, publicist, bookshops) to do all the work to promote their book
 • Just saw the `wealthy' bit of the title and think making money as an author is going to be easy
 • Want yet more theory but are not willing to follow this up with action

The Wealthy Author is for you if...

 • You are serious about writing a non-fiction book and want to get it right first time
 • You have a book in print (self published or with a mainstream) but sales are disappointing
 • You believe that the success of your book is down to the actions you take, not the wishes you make
 • You are a 'successful' author but are frustrated you still need the day job to survive

By Dr. Nicholas P. G. Davies VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
I enjoyed this book, and I think it's going to be useful. It pulls a lot of information into one place, and organises it. It proposes quite a radical shift in an author's mindset from "I write, publisher sells" to "I write, and I think who and what I am writing for and why they'll buy it." The marketing is more important as the writing.

The model of publishing in this book is very much possible because of the internet and the ability to turn easily stored and transmitted digital files into presentable hard copy on an as needed basis, without needing to carry large stock, or take up bookcase shelf in a shop. The demise of a large bookstore chain in UK recently shows some of the problems of shop based, high staff, high stock businesses.

Publ;ishing will change and savvy future authors will be examining their options, which may or may not need large publishing houses. This book gives several useful ideas for authors and is worth reading.

The Wealthy author

This book, whilst loaded with helpful advice reads somewhat like a "self help" lecture with a lot of presentation style bullet points and lists like "8 tips to..." this in itself is not a bad thing and this does make it easy to read this book quickly and (perhaps more importantly) refer to things efficiently in the future. However this "presentation" feel does persist throughout the book and perhaps some readers will find it a bit irritating. Please also remember that publishing a book also requires a large amount of work and commitment from the would-be author (especially if it is the first book) so success requires blood, sweat and tears as well as the right help. So the question remains, does this book contain the right help?

The book is fairly complete in its coverage of all the important points to consider when trying to publish a non-fiction book. These range from ideas such as "coming up with a winning idea", to finding a market, finally writing the book and then getting published and eventually turning the art of writing into a lifetime occupation.

In a way some of this grates; like many people I have my own interests which I hope to be able to offer a new view on, one day writing a book with love and excitement. As such I feel that authors who write non-fiction after non-fiction in a myriad of different subjects tends to be bad for the field in which it is placed as the books are not produced from love; and are hence somewhat contrived.

Having said that, the book does offer sound advice; clearly from some experience. However this experience is basically common sense, however this is perhaps the key to this value of this book. It is sometimes hard to think through possibilities and it is helpful to have lists of the important things one needs to cover; as such I do think that this book is valuable to potential writers.

Heres how to end with a bang Remind people of all the cool stuff they learned with a big summary (it will also help sell copies too, as prospective readers often go to the back to have a quick skim before buying). Tell them how to think and feel now theyve successfully completed your book. "e;

Check the overall Sales Rank of these books. If a book is in the top 2,000 for sales rank over a period of time then assume its bringing in a decent monthly income. "e;
