I think Six By Seven would be very displeased at any, even slight, comparison to Stereophonics or Oasis. The reality could hardly be further from the truth.
This Nottingham band get more uncompromising and closer to the towering sound of their live shows with every release, and in "So Close" they succeed in matching the power and intensity of their gigs when the song explodes into life about a minute in - it's rabbit in the headlights time. Or rather, rabbit between the speakers.
This is a very dark record - while still retaining some of the slow-burning menace from their first album, "The Way I Feel Today" takes the punk mayhem of the second to the next level on "Bad Man" and "Cafeteria Rats", making it at once more cohesive and arresting. It's easy to track the evolution of their sound, and trust me, they won't stop here.
