Product Description

The young scribe Iker has finally realised that, in pursuing Pharaoh Senusret with his hatred, he chose the wrong target, and that the real enemy is elsewhere. The enemy, the one who is attacking the Tree of Life at Abydos, is in fact the Herald, that baleful individual who is rallying troops on the borders in order to invade Egypt and annihilate her. Now Senusret has entrusted Iker with a particularly dangerous mission: to enter Canaan and discover the Herald's lair ...Who can save Egypt now? Senusret, who is constantly faced with savage assassination attempts? Iker, who is fighting on a thousand fronts to prevent the traitor from succeeding? Or the beautiful priestess Isis, who perhaps - deep in her heart - will find the means to pacify the spirit of the Nile?

Christian Jacq never fails to produce excellent work. This being the third book in his Mysteries of Osiris series is as exciting as the first two books. Fact mixed with fiction keeps the reader enthralled. Descriptions are colourful - you almost feel you are there. Iker the scribe now realises he made an error in pursuing the Pharoah with his hatred - he chose the wrong target. He is given the task of finding the Herald who is the true enemy trying to destroy Egypt. Can he save the country and people? Is Senusret to be saved from the attempts made on his life? Does Isis the beautiful priestess love Iker? Read on to find out. I'm off to start reading book 4!!

This book is part of a trilogy and you do need the others to appreciate this one, but it is well worth getting all books. Another brilliant read by this author.

The Way of Fire 29 Mar 2009
Format:Paperback
This is the third volume in the "Mysteries of Osiris " series written by Christian Jacq.As usual with this author the story paints a very authentic picture of ancient Egypt, and sets the story against semi historical facts.A very easy read, with short chapters that keep your interest and want you get on with the next chapter.Whilst Christian Jacq has written other "Egytian " sets of novels he does seem to keep to an individual structure to each set of stories rather than maintain the same structure with different characters. I would throughly recomend Christian Jacq 's books for the reader who likes historical stories.
