Review

"An interesting view into the psyche of an athlete . . . the most insightful view to date of a fighter and person that has not only dominated his sport, but has been one of the foundational figures bridging the gap between MMA's community and the greater mainstream sports audience."--Sherdog

Product Description

UFC fighter, Georges “Rush” St. Pierre, shares the lessons he learned on his way to the top, in The Way of the Fight, revealing how he overcame bullying and injury to become an internationally celebrated athlete and champion.

The reigning UFC welterweight champion, St. Pierre seemed untouchable until injury derailed him and jeopardized his title and his career. Determined to make his comeback, he embarked on a careful regimen of physical therapy. He also used this healing period to assess his life, where he's been, what he's achieved, where he wants to go, and and lessons that helped shape who he is.

In The Way of the Fight, Canadian championship fighter St. Pierre invites fans into the circle of his life, sharing his most closely guarded memories. A compelling memoir that offers an intimate, gritty look at a fighter’s journey, told through inspiring vignettes, GSP is a moving account of commitment and power, achievement and pain, dedication and conviction from one of the world's greatest champions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not just a biography 3 Jan 2014
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
This book has been incredibly interesting and insightful. Understanding GSP's philosophy on dealing with the immense pressures of competition that he has to live with really has been helpful to me, especially his writing on dealing with fear and using it to your advantage. I think the philosophy of martial artists is especially practical and useful as it has to work for them, and they are facing real dangers when stepping into a fight.

I really believe that GSP's philosophy can be applied to much more than fighting.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not a typical fighters autobiography 25 July 2013
By Dougie
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is not your typical fighters autobiography.....then again GSP is not your typical fighter. It isn't packed full of backstage-rumble rumours and hard luck stories. It is, however, packed with an insight into what makes GSP tick. It is a book about preparation, psychology, philosophy and attitude. Intelligently written this had me gripped from the start

5.0 out of 5 stars outstanding 25 Jun 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Not just a book about fighting. Far from it.

If you interested in the things that got GSP where he is today, (goal setting, vision, strategic thinking etc..) this is a great book. If you just want a blow by blow account of each fight you won't like this book.

I'm biased since I'm a huge GSP fan but I genuinely enjoyed the book and believe that people who aren't MMA fans will also take something away from it.
