I have just discovered that this fantastic single has entered the UK chart at no. 41. I am appalled that such an impressive follow up to the frankly ignored "Wrap my words around you" has been granted such a low position, particularly when, in my opinion, "The way" is one of the best tracks on Daniel Bedingfield's second album, "Second first impression". It is a complete change of direction for this outstanding musician, totally different from his earlier garage influences and instead an uptempo pop track layered with amazingly intelligent and true to life lyrics. This track displays Bedingfield's incredible vocal range to its fullest, as do all of his other singles, and the B-side, "Ain't nobody" (as performed at the 2005 BRIT Awards with his sister Natasha) arguably stretches his vocals into an even higher range, if that is possible.
I simply cannot comprehend why this single has not at least cracked the UK Top 10. I am sincerely hoping that lack of promotion has merely halted "The way" in its progress up the charts, and that it will steadily climb the chart ladder over the next few weeks. However, this feat is very rarely achieved and I can only urge you to buy this, Daniel Bedingfield's most influential single to date, to hear for yourself what a masterpiece this song is.
