Do you eat next to nothing and exercise for hours every week, but find it impossible to lose weight? Do your friends seem to eat what they like, but if you so much as look at a cake you pile on the pounds? If so, your problem may not be too much fat but too much fluid. THE WATERFALL DIET is a revolution in dieting. Linda Lazarides reveals that many women who are trying to lose weight (40% of the female population) would lose weight more effectively if they controlled fluid retention. Linda shows you how to easily identify if fluid retention is your problem and help you to safely lose a stone in seven days. This revised and updated edition focuses more attention to the health benefits of dealing with water retention, which is a major cause of high blood pressure as well as overweight. It is also more practical, as the author proves a 7-day menu plan and provides clearer instructions on how to follow the diet. The new edition will also include a section on water retention in pregnancy and testimonials and feedback from followers of THE WATERFAL DIET.

Product Description

Book Description

For women who haven't found success through normal dieting, The Waterfall Diet is a proven, revolutionary and easy-to-follow way to shed excess weight.

From the Author

A Breakthrough for People Who Find it Hard to Lose Weight.
The Waterfall Diet begins with the seemingly outrageous statement that you can literally urinate away pounds of your excess body weight. By drinking less? No. By finding out whether you suffer from hidden fluid retention and then using this diet to control it. Fluid retention looks like fat and makes you overweight, but you can't lose it by eating less. This is why so many people eat next to nothing yet still cannot reach their target weight. There are at least seven different causes of fluid retention. To get rid of it, you have to know which type of fluid retention you have, so that you can avoid the foods which are making it worse, or eat the foods which will make it better. The book contains questionnaires to help you every step of the way, and the diet itself is in three parts. Only the first part (which lasts 2 months) is difficult, but since it is not a low-calorie diet, you may even find it easier than what you are used to. Many people do. If your problem is fluid retention, it really is possible to urinate away up to 14 pounds of your body weight in one week. This is a genuine claim based on scientific research which has been collected by the author by trawling through hundreds of scientific papers. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars I would advise every woman to read this book! 28 Sep 2002
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
I loved this book from beginning to end. It explains how sometimes being overwight doesn't necessarily mean having too much fat, but fluid retention could be one of the causes. If you are one of those people that is always on a diet and performing lots of execercise and still find it hard to shed those extra pounds, you will find this book extremely helpful. Some bits are quite scientific but still easy to read and well explained. The book initially helps you to find out if fluid retention could be your problem, what are the reasons that causes it and how to fix the problem. The book offers a diet program, easy to follow with easy and delicious recepies. I tried the program and followed the advices and it works! To help speed up the proccess of fluid elimination try some diuretic herbal teas as well.

This book is crammed with usefull information, hints and is one you will refer to again and again. I have tried this diet and after a week not only have I lost 8 pounds I feel great, I have more energy and my skin is clearing up. Even if you have no weight to lose or no desire to shed some pounds I would recommend this book. It thought me to think about what I eat not just from a calorie perspective. The only criticism I would have is there is a lot of serious medical type information which takes a bit of reading to comprehend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Physicians.....please take notes... 13 July 2000
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
At the age of 46,I found myself approximately 25 pounds heavier than I had been all my adult life, even with a healthy lifestyle and diet. The only explanation was that the weight gain must be genetic. In a photograph at my niece's wedding, I became aware of the fluid retention in my face. It was obvious. I have two cousins in my generation with kidney transplants so I am very careful to note any change in kidney function. I research the matter from time to time and found "The Waterfall Diet" on the internet. I purchased the book and after following the recommended foods for one month, I lost 8 pounds and have managed to loose more with regular maintenance. It was also quite entertaining to gain understanding of differences in terminiolgy and foods from one country to another. I highly recommend this book as a gift for every woman over age 30.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fluid retention suffer. 15 Dec 2009
Format:Paperback
My body has been retaining fluid for many years and I ignored it until recently when my weight increased dramaticaly and the swelling increased in my lower body. The doctor could not ascertain the reason but I found this book very informative. I had little idea of how nutients affect the body. I used some of the guidance supplied in the book to modify my diet to deal with a leaky gut and venal system using suplements obtained from my local health food supplier. After 2 weeks the affect is visible and have lost a stone from the worst point and my legs now look normal although there is still some to go.

A book that could not be put down, written in plain english, in such a way that easily explains several causes of fluid retention; why weight loss is not being found by other means and how to do something positive about it. All that remains is to put it into practice!!

3.0 out of 5 stars the waterfall diet 8 July 2011
By jayS
Format:Paperback
over half the book was all techical data and case studies to prove the waterfall diet would work.although it was very indepth and written in reasonable laymen terms it was hard going.
the actual diet section is quite short and the recipe section even shorter.
the title is very misleading because it implies that it is only a 14 day diet - its more like a six month diet that is very restrictive in the first 4-12 weeks.
the author continually points out that it is a health diet, not a weight loss diet and wile i am not doubting that the diet will work i have found it impossible so far to stick to for more than a couple of days which just isn't long enough to see any results.
also it is a very expensive diet to follow as you need a good quality juicer and the foods that you are allowed to eat are very expensive.
it would have been better if at the end of each chapter you had to remove something from your diet - that way it would not be quite such a shock to the system or the brain when you actually emark on the diet! mind you if the author gave the reader an insight early on that it would be such a restrictive and expensive diet they would throw it down after the first few chapters!
on the whole, so far, i would not reccommend the diet - but thats not to say that if i stuck to it ridgidly that it wouln't work.

This book covers your health in so many ways instead of reducing you to a sugar/food addict like myself, but sees the other problems and addresses these and explains everything with diagrams and indepth, interesting details. The writer must of believed that the lay person of today are clever for her book informs you on everything you need tpo know in resonable depth. Writes about every possible way we can prevent water retention, its one of the best lay peoples books I have read. I brought the book a few days ago and have read it...

If your like me, you search for ages, for yet again, another book that might help.

It can be hard for some, like me, too lose weight, even if your a few pounds over weight. I get very bad PMT, and worry how long I can last out, weight goes right up!! I have learnt the hard way after many years of being told I need to watch my blood sugars, get on a higher protien, medium fats and low carbohydrate diet, with plenty of low GI vegatbles like brocolli, cauliflower and sprouts. I find diets gard to stay on and they tend not to work, unless I go on a strict stone age diet.

I read this book and it maybe my 100th book. It says it all. I feel that this book mentions all that needs to be mentioned. Stay of salt, eat vegetables, eat plenty of protien but not too much. I did not realise that the sugar was not just leading me to diabetes, heart problems and arthritis but to kidney problems. I mean sugar seems to cause everything. It lifts the insulin which raises growth hormone and increases likelyhood of cancer.
Buy this book as long as you do intent to change your diet.
