4.0 out of 5 stars very good short story 8 Feb 2013

This story does take a bit of "getting into" if you are not used to the Glaswegian vernacular, although the clue really is in the title "The Waster's Tale" - so think Modern Day Glaswegian Canterbury Tale and it all comes together and makes sense. It is the story of a day in a life of Glaswegian pot head, fuelled by drink and drugs. We all know people who live like that and the story is so well written that we can probably all recognise them in the main character. The tone and rhythm of the writing carries the story perfectly to the point where at the end of the 24 hours, and particularly with the last sentence, you know the 24 hours is just part of one long cycle to be repeated over and over.

Was okay if a bit limited in its vocabulary and a tad short but at the same time quite enjoyable experience for a short story.hope that there is more to come of his exploits.

5.0 out of 5 stars Strikingly Original 24 Aug 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This strikingly original short story tells the story of a Glaswegian man's alcohol fuelled evening. This story boldly experiments with the protagonist's diction, as the author presents us with a daring voice which incorporate the exactitudes of a Glaswegian accent. At first, this accent can be jarring but once the reader becomes accustomed to this fascinating voice the storytelling becomes incredibly rewarding.

Not content with just providing us with a unique voice, the author also provides us with a fascinating tale of excess that stays with you long after you have read this story.

If you are looking for an exciting new voice in contemporary fiction you need to read The Waster's Tale.
