I first read this book when I borrowed it from my local library. It was so good I went out and bought it. As with all her books, Landon pays a lot of attention to the time period and the detail gets you right into the story. The hero is very domineering, but to be expected given the era and his position in the Roman army, but he is still very likeable and tempered by the heroine's strong and intelligent character. A most enjoyable read.
