This is a really good dvd detailing not only the battle of Agincourt but the events that led upto to it and the battles beforehand. It has significant detail about the Agincourt battle itself where 6 thousand English and Welsh bowmen faced 30 thousand French and won because of the longbow!
If you want a book that tells the story in superb detail Bernard Cornwells Azincourt is quite brilliant and follows one particular bowman before and during the battle. I think it's my favourite book by him and the characters are excellent.
Back to the dvd - Agincourt was where the English habit of putting two fingers up to an enemy was introduced as the bowmen demonstrated to the French that they still had their fingers, waving them to display them to the enemy as the French would cut them off if they caught them, therefore stopping them from firing an arrow again.
Some historians claim that the English were responsible for the end of chivarly at Agincourt because they killed French prisoners including Knights and noblemen rather than risk soldiers guarding them as the battle went on. What many fail to mention is a failed attack by the French on the English/Welsh lines who were forced back. The French then cut down their own men as they retreated, killing hundreds of their own men who were running for their lives.
Agincourt 1415 The Triumph of the Longbow gives an excellent insight of what actually happened on the fields of France and how a small, hungry, tired and diseased English and Welsh army defeated an army five times their size! If your interested in English history, this is a must for your collection!
