Book Description

Joseph Botadeo is having his portrait painted and tells a tale of a life that began four years before the birth of Jesus and crossed paths with him and many other people and events in the subsequent 2000 years such as the Crusades and a stint as advisor to Napoleon in Palestine.

Could all this be true somehow? Adam Gordon is taking it all in and has a Brazilian girlfriend who seems to know more than she should about this story. And then there is that painting by Rembrandt--

An adventure and a love story for the ages.

The book theme confuses me and I cannot get a handle on the plot. After several chapters I've given up. Will look carefully at other titles from this author before I buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars An enjoyable read, less than profound 24 Feb. 2013

I stumbled upon this rather interesting an enjoyable little read by accident. I'd never heard of the legend of the "Wandering Jew," but I gather it was quite well known in the middle ages. This book speculates on what "life" might have been like for such a figure, placing him at the center of maybe a few too many of history's famous events. The interrelationship with contemporary characters brings it home to the reader. I recommend it, but don't expect a transcendent work of literature.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting 31 Jan. 2013

Great story, well delivered and loosely based around historical events. The author could easily have gone too far in his historical events but kept everything within sane realms. Some things didn't quite add up but overall a good story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Strange but good 6 Feb. 2013

A truly unusual read. I was not familiar with the legend of the wandering jew but I sure am now. Attractively written and conceived it suspended disbelief and held my interest all the way through. A memorable and thoughtful book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really interesting storyline 25 Mar. 2014
By Bonnie - Published on Amazon.com

I liked this book and I liked the way it was written and I kept reading to figure out: was he or wasn't he? My one criticism was that after all that build up and story telling the ending was a tad bit short and abrupt. Since so much was put into building up the story line why not take a little more time resolving it? Havings said that I really did enjoy the book and highly recommend it. It was nice learning some history along the way too!
