Product Description

Being thrown overboard was a light punishment and Drake knew he had a good deal. What he didn't know was that this was only the start of a long journey that would take him far from his home and his love - and he would have to endure far worse before either could be regained.

An unsung classic 29 Jun 2003
Format:Hardcover
Perhaps the most popular volume in the 10-book series. Whilst not my favourite, this is a classic. The setting in unusual- a world that was once technologically advanced but now fallen into the decay of sword n sorcery. So is the tone - loads of funny tongue-in-cheek humour. Read all 10 and you'll be amazed at how well they blend together.

Epic 31 Dec 2001
Format:Hardcover
The hero of this tale of adventure, chaos, love and lust is hilarious in the ways he seeks his fortunes. The language of the characters and the reckless bravery shown by them contrasts well with the all too real threats of life around them. Cook has been brilliant in his conjurement of an alternative world, making a decent fist of the past mixing with the present, with unexpected and gruesome results.

The Best 20 July 2010
Format:Hardcover
I've read tons of Sci-Fi and fantasy and this book is very special. I first read it when I was around 16 and I'm now 33. I've read it 5 or 6 times and the original book is so well thumbed that I've had to buy a new one! This is a swashbuckling page turner, absolutley hilarious, so involving with the main charachter being the archetypal anti-hero. But I am forever so disappointed at the ending - because it finished.

The Best SF Book ever written!
That's quite a claim.

Asimov, Donaldson, Herbert, Moorcock, etc, etc. Love them all.

But this towers above.

Epic? Yes. Hilarious? Yes. Gritty? Yes. Read more
