Book Description

27 Dec 2011 Walking Dead (Book 15)
The world we knew is gone. The world of commerce and frivolous necessity has been replaced by a world of survival and responsibility. An epidemic of apocalyptic proportions has swept the globe, causing the dead to rise and feed on the living. In a matter of months society has crumbled: no government, no grocery stores, no mail delivery, no cable TV. In a world ruled by the dead, the survivors are forced to finally start living. The events of No Way Out have affected everyone in the Community, and not everyone has survived to pick up the pieces. Reprinting issues #85-90 of the Eisner Award-winning series, The Walking Dead. Reprint Edition

3.0 out of 5 stars A fall out/bridging arc 17 Feb 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is one of those volumes where not a great deal happens but the scene is set for whatever the next major arc will be. It reminds me of why I follow the series in trade format as this run of issues would be interminable on a monthly 22 page basis.
Basically the characters are dealing with the last scuffle and a chunk of the story is dealing with whether one character survives. Thanks to Kirkman's ability to kill off pretty much anyone, we know this character is by no means safe so this does create some tension. The rest of the story is more about making their new home as safe as possible and thinking of creating a community that can survive into the future. The problem is that the original residents of the new home aren't all happy that Rick and crew have taken charge and there are even hints of a split within Rick's own crew. Like I said, it's all foreshadowing that I'm sure will pay off eventually but we'll probably have to wait at least another 6 months before we get the pay-off. Regular readers of the series will know what I'm talking about, I'm sure. It's not bad it's just a bit insubstantial.

4.0 out of 5 stars walking dead 15 13 Mar 2012
By walker
Format:Paperback
I really enjoyed this volume of the walking dead. Its nowhere near as boring as people say and this volume deals with the events that happened in the previous volume. One of the things I like about this comic book is that it isnt all action and it deals with human relationships and that is something this volume does really well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shocking revelations and character development! 23 Jan 2012
Format:Paperback
Absolutely brilliant. Some shocking revelations and personal truths are revealed in this volume! You get a nice update on many of the characters emotions and mental stability after the crazy events of the last volumes, furthermore it makes a nice break from the action and chaos. By the end storyline is set up nicely for the next volume. The Walking Dead hasn't got tired, slow or boring. Keep them coming!

In short, it's like the volume 9. after the prison, less zombie killing, more exploration of the human relationships.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is definitely a Thumbs Up! 13 May 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Since the introduction of the new community the Walking Dead storylines have become much more subtle and subdued. The trademark shock and awe that threatened to give you a heart attack with the turn of each page has subsided somewhat. It is easy to cry foul and want more of what Kirkman does best. But you have to think of the long term. You can only have so much death before you have no characters left to continue the story or you as the reader become inured to it all.

This long term vision is what the characters are currently facing up to. With the potential of a stable and safe community you get to think further ahead than your next meal or next sunrise. What are the things you need to be looking at addressing in a year, ten years or a generation into the future? This is something that rarely comes up in zombie fiction and is actually the heart of what Kirkman set out to do when he created the Walking Dead. Initially I was sceptical about this volume as, like you, I want my shock and awe. But even though the limbs aren't flying thick and fast the themes and character interactions are no less important or dramatic.

We are so used to the now familiar black and white art that it becomes transparent. It is testament to how great it is by the fact we take it for granted. Doing snow scenes in black and white isn't easy but it all looks effortless. This is definitely a Thumbs Up!

I bought this book as a christmas present to myself. What a great gift it was.

The main story continues to develop and more zombies get killed. A bit of romance is also included!

It's all about survival!

5.0 out of 5 stars great 6 Jan 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
if you like well written horror, then these books are the books for you.the walking dead has re written the rules about zombies! as just as shaun of the dead did .unfortunetly you have to buy the series to appreciate the story fully , whichis the only draw back, the story makes no sense on its own.

3.0 out of 5 stars Starting to feel like it has run its course 3 Jan 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
If you're thinking about buying v15 of the Walking Dead you are probably already a fan. However, this collection is the slowest paced so far with a heavy emphasis on dialogue and character reflection.
I've really enjoyed the series so far with its mix of strong characters, real horror and occasional melodrama, but this one felt like filler between stories or less kindly, like Kirkman has lost direction.
I'm not quite ready to bail yet but wouldn't hang around if this new, slower, pace was the norm.

5.0 out of 5 stars An inportant link to the future 23 Dec 2011
By PJ Rankine TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
If this epic series is to continue its success then it has to continue to develop its storylines and this episode is spent doing that. The major storylines are Rick's concerns about Carl as he lies in a coma following his shooting and an attemmpt to usurp Rick as leader but essentially this epsiode is about developing their future as they consolidate their position as winter sets in. There is zombie action but nothing dramatic and nobody dies ( a first?) but tensions are still running high and several seeds are sown for future storylines and not all regarding their personal relationships. Having now got well into the tv series as well I was amazed to see how well Andrea and Maggie were cast because they actually resemble their drawn characters. Often in monochrome graphic novels the characters' visual identities become blurred but they are starting to really come to life now, at least for me. This is not a book for the casual reader but fans will love it and recognise how important it is.
