Just got done reading this straight after getting the first one. I obviously can't tell you the plot line, because this book has over a thousand pages and I would be here FOREVER going over the story without spoiling anything. But I will tell you what I did, hopefully convincing any sceptics who may be hesitant about buying this.
Firstly, DON'T buy it if you haven't read the first one. It will still be good, but come on, you can't jump on board half way through! You won't start feeling genuine feelings for these characters if you do that!
Secondly, I was a fan of the TV series first. Being such a mega fan of the TV series and an avid comic reader, I thought to myself "why am I not reading The Walking Dead comics?" Then I had that argument with myself i'm sure we've all had at some point if you like TWD, "don't read it, it'll spoil the TV show!"
But honestly, it doesn't. (THE SEASON 3 PREMERE WAS GREAT!)
The TV show is its own machine. Sure, there's always going to be things that you can predict will obviously happen, but just remember, the TV show originated from THESE BOOKS. It is an AWESOME show, because this story is AWESOME.
Anyway... Got a bit sidetracked there.
So I bought the first Compendium thinking I'll give it a try... A week later, I pre-ordered this one (it arrived on the 9th of October!! Great service!!) because I got done reading the first one in a week (it was THAT addictive). So then another week goes by, I've finished this one. EVEN DAMN BETTER! So what I've done now is, because I absolutely have to have more of this amazing story, I ordered the next story arc in the series in single issues (even though it comes out in trade in a month or so). Read them all today. EVEN BETTER!!!!!

Excellent comic. Compendium 2 does not disappoint and leaves you wanting more. Shame compendium 3 wont be out for a while so will have to start picking the walking dead up in volumes.

Volume 17 of the walking dead follows on from compendium 2 in case you wanted to know.

It's been a long time since I read graphic novels due to the cost. I had completely forgotten how absorbing and atmospheric they can be and the price is negated by getting the compendium. Significantly better aloe than buying individually. These books are so much better than the show, which I also love! Highly recommend!,!

Has some great parts in it but it seems like its treading familiar ground. The new characters are more or less cliches and don't add much. The conclusion although not dramatic did set up a new story thread which should seems really exciting and should make the third compendium worth reading!

I was a proud owner of the walking dead compendium 1. I was really blown back by the quality of the storyline. I was really looking forward for the second compendium, and well, it is now out.

Needless to say I devoured it. It sounds almost impossible, but the story kept getting better and better as it went along. I do not want to go on details because, spoilers, but it remains fresh and unpredictable. And with all the monstrosity it contains, surprisingly humane.

I strongly recommend the entire series to any comic book fan that enjoys character based stories!

After buying Compendium 1 I couldn't wait to get my hands on this. It is easilly the best way to catch up from issues 48-96. But on the whole this series is just... wow! It is tenfold better than the tv show in my opinion and is definitely a must read for all zombie fans.
Also, if you are a child, do not read this! It gets pretty damn dark, all be it not as dark as The Governer story arc, but still quite dark.

the only problem is having to wait for compendium 3!
