I like Chael Sonnen's public persona - and have done since he 'came out of his shell' after the Nate Marquardt fight a few years ago. He was really off the UFC radar up until that point, until he started cutting promos at the post-fight press conference. I love his 'Superstar Billy Graham' promos, he's a great fighter, he oozes charisma and is an exciting personality. So let's be clear about that - I'm a big Chael fan. I actually bought 3 copies of this book - I sent copies to 2 of my friends too, as we all love him.

But what I have no interest in are his arrogant & bigoted Republican political views - and this book is full of them - in fact, that's pretty much all you get. It's fine if he holds those views; that's his deal - but it's also safe to assume people buying his book are UFC/MMA fans - not people looking for a political lecture. But his book is terrible - it has little to do with fighting, MMA, or UFC. He talks about his love for Nixon & how Nixon was set up by the "hippy" liberal press for Watergate, he discusses Vietnam, Occupy Wall Street, God, his real estate & testosterone scandals (which still make no sense when he explains them, since he acts faux-naïf when he tells both stories - Chael is the 'confused' victim in both scenarios). He also has a go at endangered species, conservationists, Bill Maher, Obama, The Godfather 1 & 2, Native Americans, etc, etc - the list goes on; and having a go at liberals (or anyone not right wing) is a running theme. And to be clear - I'm not "offended" by any of these views - I just don't care. It's boring & his points are made in such a biased & OTT manner, that he's not convincing in the slightest.

I would like to start out by saying that I feel Chael is the most entertaining aspect of the UFC. Whether you love or hate him, there is a reason he is one of the top five draws the company has. A pay per view with his name in the main or co-main event will sell. That's a fact.

What I do not like about Chael is his book. I was expecting something on paper akin to what I see on the screen. 220 pages of Chael Sonnen being the Chael I love to watch. What I did not want was 200 pages of politics. I am not American, I'm from the UK, so reading nothing but Republican topics is not how I want to spend my time. I bought this book to get an insight into Chael's life (which, for small parts, you do. And those small parts are brilliant). It is just a sad fact that the large part of the book is not what I class as something I want to spend my time reading.

A shame, as he is truly my favourite personality in all of sports.

Not a bad read, but being only 220 pages, there is very little about "The Cage". Chael tends to go off on a tangent, moaning about American politics and the state of the world.

This is similar to Jeremy Clarksons "Rant" books.

Overall, quite a funny read, IF you are a fan of Chaels.

Chael.. One doesn't buy this book to listen to a voice of reason. If you know Chael, then you'll know that reason left the store a long time ago. It's a funny book, and typically Chael. I loved most of it, except the part where he got a bit serious. It didn't last long, and well worth buying, if only to support a colourful MMA fighter, and champion wrestler.

Funny, informative and entertaining in every sense. Great Read!

Chael is the man with the biggest arms, the man with the greatest charm, and the man who walks to the octagon to do his opponents, a lot of harm.

Bought this book to gain an insight into chaels life and his time in the ufc. However this book has nothing to do with either. His opinions are contradicting and in my opinion boring. Do not buy this book if you want to read about ufc buy it if you want to listen to the opinions of a delusional man. Even the fact that chael has never won a ufc title belt yet displays one on the cover just shows that his mind is deluded.

When Chael Sonnen came out of his shell back in early 2010 after earning a UFC middleweight title shot by defeating Nate Marquardt he let fly with some of the best trash talking ever to grace MMA or any other sport for that matter. His number one focus was current UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva, he really went to town on Silva with various quips and what's more he even backed it up when they finally fought in the Octagon, he would go on to dominate Silva for four and half rounds before getting caught in a submission, it was a case of snatching defeat from the hands of victory. Submissions have always been Chael's kryptonite. So it was much anticipation when I got my hands on Chael's book, surely it would be full of his fighting career and be full of trash talking about various fighters. I am sad to say it's very light on MMA material in fact its only just over 200 pages long and covers a wide array of topics from politics to music.

The book starts and ends with the Brian Stann fight from UFC 136 and really is the best part of the book as Sonnen describes the build-up to fight week and the hard task of cutting weight as well as the actual fight, it's a pity he couldn't have covered more of his fights from his career such as both Paulo Filho fights from the WEC days. We get a chapter on why Richard Nixon was the best president ever as well as some love for both George Bush's. Chael gives movie advice, such as what movie he thinks is vastly over rated. Also covering music Sonnen lists his eleven best walkout songs that fighters should use and also lists a few they shouldn't use.

There are some funny stories about Donald Cerrone and C.B Dolloway and the book would have benefited from more of these types of stories.
