Inevitably this collection hardly involves Gabriel, though there is a marvellous 1999 version of Carpet Crawlers at the end, almost as 'lip service' to the master.
The rest is pure post-Gabriel stuff but fun to see. As video emerged from the swamp to become the art-form it is today, these Genesis videos show everything, from the brilliant to the completely dire; there are no depths which Collins will not plumb; just watch Illegal Alien and try not to cringe!! But it's good harmless fun and, as a catalogue of the output of the best band ever, you realise why they made great albums rather than great pop singles. What makes the DVD great is the quality of the sound rather than the pictures; the DTS and 5.1 are extremely well done and, if you get sick of watching, just switch your screen off and get on with reading your paper or doing your tax return!

Yes, like this! 11 Jan 2005

Already had much of this on video, but the temptation of 5.1 DTS sound was too much, and yes the sound is indeed the strength of this DVD. Just listen to FYFM and marvel in the clarity. The video quality isn't bad either - to clarify I mean image quality, some of the content is very cringe-worthy! But it's great to see the boys in all their stages since the mid 70's. and was that the Liverpool Empire in the Duchess video...? I was there!!

Sounds Fantastic 26 Sep 2011
By Mr. R. G. Prizeman TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:DVD
For those who did not buy the sacd with the DVD reissues then this is for you. Over forty promo films, remastered and many I have never seen. The sound is in DTS and is very clear, the drums on Tonight, tonight , tonight are just brilliant as they are on Home by the sea which i did not realise was ever a single. Now don't get upset that the oldest tracks are from A trick of the tail, why because no groups really made promos before 1975 so If you are expecting fifth of Firth or Musical box they are not here, this is a collection of the Gabriel less genesis (except the rerecording of Carpet crawlers(1999)
