The price alone should be a reason to give this record a go. Tarika blue only made two albums in 1976 and 1977, with the help of the fantastic Keyboard/producer James Mason, whose album Rhythm of Life is an absolute must if you enjoy Jazz Funk. The sound here, is very similar to what that record has to offer. Upfront bass lines, the strong presence of female vocals, tight guitar background parts and some brilliant keys playing.
The variety of songs is ranges from the slow and sultry work of genius that is 'Dreamflower' to high octane tracks like 'Revalation'.
Fans of James Mason will want to pick this one up, but it might also appeal to those who like Brian Jackson (Gil Scott Heron's keyboard partner) and jazz funk/ soul funk in general. For the price, it is certainly worth a go.
