Format:Audio CD
I first heard of Era when I saw the stunning video to "The Mass" on Classic FM TV. I was intrigued by it and the group that produced the music.
I decided to buy this set, of "The Very Best Of Era" CD with the DVD of the music videos with it.

An excellent CD. To people that haven't heard of Era, I'd say it's a sort of cross between Enigma and Enya, with another different twist. I really good mixture of sounds, but with a basic theme that tells you this is an Era recording.
Apart from "The Mass", my other favourite songs include, "Don't Go Away" and "Looking For Something".
The videos on the DVD are great; all try to tell a story, and were the thing that had drawn me to Era in the first place.
If you like this style of music, then you'll love this CD!

I first heard Era in an HMV and thought it sounded great. Based on that brief exposure I bought it. I am sorry I did because there really was nothing I liked in the album. Cathar Rythm is, possibly, Era's best known song. But I felt it sounded bland. In some respects the music reminded me of soundtrack for a middles ages adventure film. Robin Hood say. Probably good if there is a scene to put with it. But I did not find it engrossing in itself and I won't listen to it again.

The very best of Era, is more or less as it says on the lable. Some of the 16 tracks have been remixed offering another equily powerful version of the music.
The DVD on the other hand is not as I had expected but its use of modern today images mixed with Medievil music is beautifully combined to make this DVD worth the purchase. There are other pieces that are set to the time the music is set for. One in particular looks like a Medievil Pop Video with the lead male singing.
If you have bought the Era Trilogy, you have to buy this.
