For the Keating fans 17 April 2011
By Miran Ali VINE™ VOICE
Format:Hardcover
An anthology of short stories published by the members of the Detective Club on occasion of the 80th birthday of the late HRF Keating, the doyen of crime fiction writers.

The stories are of a mixed bag. Some quite entertaining and others not so much. The book's really for the fan of HRF Keating, rather than for a layman looking for a good collection of crime short stories.

By Clive A. H. Still TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Hardcover
These eighteen short stories were written as a tribute to HRF Keating on the occasion of his eightieth birthday . All members of the Detection Club, of which HRF was for many years the president, each author brings a very different outlook to hanging a story on a connecting peg. Enjoy the tale of how Eric, the Detection Club skull, came to occupy such an eminence or a delightful story by Catherine Aird (Perfidious Albion) dealing with an insufferably superior English woman or Robert Barnard's Sisters Under the Skin where we are left wondering who in this open ended story deserves the most sympathy. A few of the entries do not take flight but the majority of them would grace any anthology.

To have knowledge of the late HRF Keating's work enhances enjoyment of this very mixed bag but is not essential.
