Product Description

My secret plan to move to Venice was ready. It was time to see if my wife would buy into the idea of leaving our home to live for an entire year in a foreign country.

And thus the journey begins - Barry and Debbie Frangipane, a middle-class couple tired of the rat race leaves it all for the lure of Venice. But can they make it in a foreign land? Read about the hilarious twists and turns their lives take during their year in the city of water, as they show us a Venice we never knew existed. The Venice Experiment is about fulfilling dreams on a journey that any of us could make - but would we?

I live in Venice and believe me every single word on this book is just so true! I can easily relate to so many of the things Barry has described. I haven't laughed as loud as I did with this book for so long! a must read before coming over to visit our beautiful city, you will explore it with different eyes!

Fun, quick read 7 Nov 2011

I read this book while in Venice on vacation and it was so fun to read about places and then visit them! Venice is the most magical of cities, and this book perfectly described the magic, along with the many quirks. Store hours should always be accompanied by an, "-ish" and a backup plan (usually involving gelato or espresso) will help you pass the time. Enjoyed this fun, quick read!

living vicariously through this story.... 17 Feb 2012
By mollyseven - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I love a book where you feel like you are there, where you get a true idea of how it was to be there. I have travelled to venice and didn't think I would go back having loved the countryside more but after reading this I could see myself living in an apartment like this and meshing into the daily routines of the local people. It sounds like a dream come true......loved the book!!!

"Centuries ago at this point, a bench, or 'banco,' was set up. This was the Red Bank. You see, banking was one of the few professions in which the Jews were allowed to engage, and they did so at a bench outside. In fact, one of the benches was set up right here. Your English word 'Bank' comes from 'banco,' or bench. If a banker engaged in illegal loans or other nefarious activity, the police would break his bench, symbolizing "e;
