A CD that's more a collector item then a regular CD Item.

This 2CD gives a fascinating insight in this band during 1968 until the beginning of 1970. Alternative versions, false starts (showbizz blues, Man of the World), interruptions, jams (The Madge sessions), instrumental versions and so on. That's also the reason why it's a diffult record for the not so macca-fans.

But lovers of wonderful, excellent guitarplaying, they will find their share on this one. The "love that burns" from the Mr. Wonderfull record is a dark, strong, rather heave slow blues. The alternative versions on Vaudiville? Well, the opening cords and first, aprox 30 seconds: every time it blows me away, because it's Green his trademark in top: "Less is more". This trademake can also be heard on the beautiful, long Underway: it's like an albatross or a white swan is landing on water, but then streched out over 15 minutes.

A must have for Fleetwood Mac blues(rock) music lovers, they will love it. For me, it's an asthonising, fascinating document.

A great collection of the original Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac at their zenith. Try 17 minutes of Madge Session 1 - blues rock at its very best. The haunting "Love that Burns", and the other basic tracks which were crafted into their very best album "Then Play On" and their hit singles ("Oh Well", "Man of the World", "Green Manalishi"). Don't care so much for the spoof "Schlitz" tracks, but don't let them put you off the range of other tracks that demonstrate their collective versatility. What a shame the band didn't stay together to go on to even greater heights.

Disc One is awful; false starts, silly intros, poor recordings... There is only one track I feel enthusiastic about although some other tracks are passable. Disc Two is great. Really great.
