Product Description

Book Description

This story is based on a visionary dream. The dream had such strong images and themes, that it was almost entirely responsible for the narrative of this translation of its contents. It contains allegorical, historical and political commentary, which should be easy to recognise, as well as visionary scenes straight out of a dreamscape. Breath-taking scenes makes’ this book a dreamscape novella and the first of a series of dreamscape novella’s from this author.
The unusual thing about this particular dream is the complexity of the narrative. It is rare, that a story such as this can be found in dreaming, and it is for this reason I have developed a story around it.
The story reflects the ambiguity of the politics of the Middle East. There are many of us that ‘know’ what the solutions are, and what the rights and wrongs are, but it appears no-one agrees. So The Vast and Gruesome Clutch of Our Law, attempts to explore those ambiguities and leaves some of the plot open, and some closed. We know some of the reasons why the events in the story happen, and for some we do not.
The story provides a political commentary of the effects of pollution on humanity; the rights and wrongs of imperialism; the imposition of war on innocent communities who block or impede the progress of the superpower. It also shows that not all these political situations are explainable or easily understood by the people caught up in the cross fire. The story perhaps explores the ambiguity of political will, and the demands it makes on innocent people.
It makes some good points, delivered in an alternative way, instead of heavy and often politically slanted commentary filling the book shelves of the large booksellers.

From the Publisher

This book forms the first of four dreamscape novella's. A follow up to this particular story will be available in 2007/8. Also accompanying this series is a dream book which presents the history of the dreaming, that the dreamscape novella's have been based upon.

Here we have a tale that is Utopian-inclined yet with nail-biting realism. A near-future Earth coming to grips with an astronomical disaster has solutions maybe as bad as the problems. But this is more a story about people, their potential and consequences. It explores attitudes and reactions to events we can all relate to especially in the light of global political and geo-environmental issues we all face.

Ben Bamber is a writer to watch. He has vision and an urge to write well in such a way we feel compelled to read. I look forward to the sequel.
