5.0 out of 5 stars I love this book 12 Jan 1999
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I can't believe nobody has said anything about this book, it was so amazing. I bawl my eyes at the ending everytime I read it. In the end you totally fall in love with Damon, and realize he's not a bad guy. Him and Stefan finally make up, and you realize that they love each other sooooo much. I thought I would die when Stefan calls out Elena's name, I thought my heart was shattering. The only thing is, I wish it hadn't been written through Bonnie. I didn't like the feeling of it, I think I would've preferred it through Meredith, if it had to be anyone besides Elena. But this is a heart wrenching story that will keep you turning the pages right down till the end, and then you'll be looking for even more. I think they should throw Damon and or Stephan into the Night World books, I think it could make it very interesting. They have certainly been around awhile, so why not??? Don't we kinda miss Damon??? He'd be the perfect guy to see meeting his soulmate and succomb to his need for that love. :) Well if you wanna talk email me!

5.0 out of 5 stars *bEaUtiFul* 5 Dec 2004
By W Ahmad
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I read all of the first 3 in the Vampire Diaries series and bawled my eyes out in the 3rd - it was sooo unfair! I read a few reviews of this one before I bought it and saw that some people found it too light hearted - but I thought it was just right. Elena and Stefan BELONG together (lol).
I did feel sorry for Damon - I wish Smith had given us more of an insight into his head like she did with Stefan though. I wanted to see what Damon really thought of Elena - whether it was just lust or really love - he didn't seem very broken up or remorseful from her death visibly - but was he? Did he even care? He was shown to have cared at the end of the 3rd, but nothing much was in this one of what he was going through now.
It was so sweet and sad how much Stefan loved Elena considering he was running away from her in the start of it all.
The only thing I wasn't really comfortable with was Bonnie - how it's written through her - and how she constantly keeps going after Damon and Stefan and Matt (her character doesn't suit any of them - Elena suits all of the boys, I reckon [lol]): and her best friend died - she could be a little more sympathetic!
But overall, I thought it was wicked - and definitely a good ending to the series. I don't want it to be the end though : I wanna know what happens to Elena and Stefan - they'll obviously get married won't they? - will they have kids? What's gonna happen next!! There should be a fifth book!!!
Loved all books in this series though. x X x

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic 21 April 2004
Format:Paperback
I have worked hard to collect all of L. J. Smith's books and this seriesis by far the best. This is the last book in the series in which everyonebecomes involved in the fight against the dark, including Damon. We getmore insight into Stefan and the relationship between Bonnie and the twovampire brothers, we see Damon's opinions of everything that's going onand maybe even see into his heart a little. The end is the best part ofthe whole book, it has a surprising ending and any of this author's fanswill love it. My fave parts are when Stefan is able to see Elena eventhough she's dead, when Bonnie contacts her. You'll cry, you'll smile andyou'll want to read it again and again.

I really felt sorry for Damon he really isn't a bad guy after all although he was still really hot when he was evil.I love the way Stefan and Elena stay together but i still kind of think she should have stayed with Damon! 3.0 out of 5 stars A Dissapointment 29 Sep 2000
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Now i have read all the other reviews on this book and just totally dissagree, the first three books were the the best books i had ever read, but this one reallt let me down. I didn't read Dark Reunion until about two years after I had read the other three, and i have to say it ruined a perfect ending the last book was so thought prevoking, u could actually believe that it happened and i cried so much it was if it had happened to me. Dark Reunion wasn't believable in the slightest, the way it came across to me was as an after thought because the third book was too sad, I have given these books to many people to read and they all agree with me> Though if u have read the first three books u do have to read this book just to finish it of, but i think it was far to happy. Anyway what i am trying to say is that the book read as an afterthought

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT 28 Feb 2010
By Mrs. A. M. Chadwick VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
A new series on ITV2 called the "Vampire Diaries started a few weeks ago, and I really enjoyed it. :-)

When I found out the series was based on novels by L.J.Smith I decided to buy the first four novels in the series as I know usually the novels that series are based on are even better, and I wasn't disappointed. :-)

The fourth novel "The Reunion" starts off from where "The Fury" finished. Bonnie starts to have dreams of Elena in the other world, she's dreaming that they are talking and spending time togther but very quickly the dream turn frightening. Elena tells Bonnie that there is a terrible new enemy that's now stalking Fell's Church and who is killing young girls.

Meredith, Matt and Bonnie need to find Stefan and get in touch with him but they haven't a clue where he is. Bonnie then uses a summoning spell to tell Stefan they need his help. He comes and so does his brother. They devise a plan and all go off to do their part, Stefan does some research in the library and stumbles onto something about Tyler, due to what happened to a dead relative Stefan now knows they have a werewolf to deal with.

Well, I don't want to say anymore about the story as I really don't want to spoil it for you.

The author grips you right from the start; her characters and the story are extremely well written. It's a very enjoyable and compulsive read; I just couldn't put this book down. :-)

If you're like me and you've been watching the TV series this is a must read. It's more involved and the story goes a little deeper into what's happened in the past. :-)

Even though these books are classed as young adult books, anyone from 14 years onward will enjoy them. It's an excellent horror novel and worth every penny. :-)
