I love gangster films and this is one of the better ones I have seen. The film is a fairly accurate portrayal of the characters and events surrounding the massacre so far as I understand them. I particularly like the accompanying narration which introduces and explains the different characters and events as they occur throughout the film. Several well-known actors have been particularly well cast. This is an enjoyable film to settle down to on a cold night and it is one of those that I can watch again and again without becoming bored.

This film is very well done it tells the story very well and is very well cast as the actors really do look like gangsters, guys like George segal, David Canary, Ralph meeker and Jason Robards all play their parts very well.
Great voice over work from the narrator to give you a little info on all the charactors leading up to the big event as well.

Rented this out as had not seen in 20 years and still found it oddly enjoyable.
George Segal is great and in his prime as a trigger happy gangster.
Jason Robards makes a great Al Capone.

If you enjoyed Bonnie & Clyde or Dillinger(or simply enjoy lots of people being mown down with tommy guns) you will most likely appreciate this fast paced movie.

The 2.35:1 Anamorphic picture looks very clean even on a large plasma screen, so this dvd is the way to view it.

This film,in my opinion,is one of the best Gangster films ever made. The combination of the film and the documentary
voice over is superb. Also the documentary style of the presentation of the film is great. The acting is first rate
especially George Segal & Jason Robards with great support of the rest of the cast. A must for any afficianado of
gangster films.

saw this once on vhs tape what a waste, now we have a fantastic widescreen dvd copy, which just shows how bad vhs was, this movie is so well photographed and the colours are crystal clear it was a crime we had to put up with garbage on tape for so long.Very well made mafia story,ok it`s all produced on a studio backlot, but that is why it looks so brillantly made as they would have had total control over the filming, appears to be close to real events and yes it`s violent but not like more modern films so anyone can watch.
