About the Author

From a young age Bish Muir helped her mother in the kitchen, and learned how to use up all the food in the cupboard, make the most of what ingredients were there and not throw anything away. In The Use-It-All Cookbook she has called on both her own recipes and those which have been in her family for years. She lives with her husband and children in an increasingly self-sufficient and eco-friendly farmhouse in North Devon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cook book for our times 3 Nov 2008
Format:Paperback
This is a cook book that is perceft for those wanting to (a) cut down on the huge amount of waste food that gets tipped into landfill sites (b) cut back on food bills during the "credit crunch". The layout is easy to follow with handy hints and excellent cross references.

Can be used by the novice as well as the expert.

5.0 out of 5 stars Savoury or sweet, a credit crunch must have! 12 Jan 2009
Format:Paperback
Want to reduce your food cost in the credit crunch, then buy this book!

Jamie Oliver, Nigella, Rick Stein, Raymond Blanc, Keith Floyd etc. Like me, you'll have various celebrity cook books around the kitchen. Great as they are, what do you do with any leftovers? This book should sit alongside any cookery book you have. Want to know how long you can store leftovers, what you can freeze and can't freeze, instead of just guessing? With an easy A-Z of ingredients referenced to recipes, I found the tips, layout and instructions really easy to follow, and it will give you the confidence to use up food you would otherwise throw out - or worse still - allow to exist in a small amount at the bottom of your freezer! For example, I used leftover poached salmon, sweetcorn and other bits hanging around to make some really lovely fishcakes. I took the author's suggestion to serve it with a green salad and sweet chilli sauce - fantastic result and now a favourite starter at dinner parties. Do try also the superb Chicken Crunch using leftover crisps!

2.0 out of 5 stars Unoriginal leftovers! 22 Feb 2009
Format:Paperback
I was hoping for some exciting ideas for left-overs but there was nothing new or that couldn't have been found in a Delia book. Also I prefer recipe books that show pictures of the prepared dish rather than an ingredient eg. a picture of a whole cabbage for bubble and squeak!
