The Unit is amazing. This season however, got cut short from 24 planned episodes to only 11 because of the writers strike! How can you charge us as much, or in this case MORE for a season with less than half the amount of episodes?? Sort it out.

Truncated third season -due to writer's strike of the Shawn Ryan(The Shield)/David Mamet creation is the best yet.Gripping military sequences are well judged against the trials and tribulations faced by the women they leave behind.The cast are uniformly excellent with Dennis Haysbert's cool under pressure both on mission and at home sergeant being the pick of the bunch.
A earnestly played but unconvincing subplot involving one wife's descent into working in an adult bar detracts a little but there are some scorching episodes here- Every Step You Take(an embassy rescue mission goes awry)and Five Brothers(tragedy befalls the unit in Lebanon)are standouts.
Politics and the episodic nature of continuing tv series aside,The Unit is superior entertainment.

Having been anticipating the return of The Unit I was thoroughly let down by its third season. Left on a cliff hanger of an ending to season 2, 3 picks up the story with fast pace action and lots of fingernail biting moments. However once that snippet is resolved (2 episodes later) it quickly falls into mission to mission moments. It lacks the story line and attention to detail that are evident in shows like Alias and 24. The whole 'Tiffy's affair' is glossed over and not properly explored or extended throughout the story. It's left and then dipped into later, as if the writers have suddenly remembered it. I can't knock the action and there's plenty of it but I doubt I'll be buying it for the dvd collection.

Love love LOVE The Unit! Wish they had made more than four seasons! Do not open this boxset unless you are prepared to sit and watch the whole lot!

5 stars regardless of episodes....
It's a much smaller number of episodes so shame it's the same price as Season 1 & 2 but regardless it's still top notch entertainment. Read more
