We are the Ministry of Stories, inspiring a nation of storytellers from our base in Hoxton, East London. Young readers from Year 7 at Cardinal Pole School in Hackney recently wrote book reviews with us about The Uniform:

This is about a boy, Matt, going to a new school and getting bullied on the first day. He didn't have a uniform so his mum went to the charity shop to get a uniform. The next day when he went to school he felt powerful and evil. What happens next to Matt? Does he stay evil? Did the uniform turn him evil? Wait and see...
I thought 'The Uniform" was a tremendous story because the characters felt realistic - they acted like some of the people in our world. I'm giving this book five stars because the author made it so exciting for me and others. I wish this book had a part two because it was so good. People aged ten and over should read this book.

In this story there is a boy called Matt. He has started at a new school. His Mum buys him his uniform in the charity shop. When gets his uniform we discover that a boy called Daniel Chadwick used to own it. On the uniform were the letters (DTW). The uniform had power.
I really liked it because he was hurt. It was fluently written. It is suitable for ages ten and over. WARNING: this may give you nightmares!

The school uniform has power over Matt. If you want to know what happens to Matt, read this book and if you don't think it is brilliant, I do! I gave this book four stars because a school uniform doesn't really make you powerful but is a story about Matt who has problems. He is hurt and possessed.

The Uniform is a story about a boy that got bullied by his classmate Chadwick and then the boy that is getting bullied went in to the charity shop to get a uniform and when he puts it on he becomes powerful and loses control. He beats up Chadwick and his teacher. I am giving this book four stars because it is fantastic and amazing. It has taught me that I would feel angry towards bullies. I recommend this for people aged twelve and over - not for those that are easily scared!

***
Matt has a sinister power but his power has nothing to do with clothing - it is more about his missing dad. Read 'The Uniform' to find out about Matt and his missing dad. I haven't given it five stars because it's not legit and I am not fully convinced because it isn't about power but about anger over his missing dad.
