Well, well, well, here's me a guid Glaswegian boy, bathing in the warm nostalgic glow of BBT's oh so English Victorian Prog Rock. And a good thing too. OK, the G word (70s Genesis) will be mentioned in dispatches... that's fine by me, but there is a lot more going on here. A warm humane and homely spirit pervades the music. You'll hear those G word type of chords and musical harmony, e-bow guitars, flutes, organ, jangly guitar, mellotrons and all that jazz.
There is another G word around (I think) and that is Gentle Giant - in some of the multi-part singing. There is some psychedelia, a lot of pastoralism and some lovely brass and woodwind. Music to lose yourself in. Warmly recommended to all but the 'blues orthodoxist' and three chord fundamentalist. I gave it 4 stars nor 5 so that BBT have something to motivate them for the next album.
PS - a bit of the KC word too - like a more mellow King Crimson between 70 and 71 there is a pool of musicians that augment the core band.
PPS - My gran was from Southampton, maybe that's the link?
