Having read and so thoroughly enjoyed the first book by Mr Kimbell I was not expecting the 2nd to be as enjoyable. It was. Whilst not a pure aviation read it is clear he has opened his heart with this book and I was brought to tears on more than one occasion.

The content continues where "Think Like A Bird" ends but this time it is not just his love of flying that he shares but his love of life and of one woman in particular.

A heartfelt book that must be on the bookshelf of anyone who has read and enjoyed his first. I look forward to the third.

Of Alex Kimbell's first volume, Think Like A Bird, I wrote "As a pilot myself, I have read many, many books on flying. Some are excellent, some not so. Where this book stands out is that it takes you into the cockpit in a way that you learn more about the art of piloting rather than just flying, in a language that anyone can read. A great read that is worth revisiting more than once."

All that I can say here is that he continues his story in the same style, this time interweaving a little more from his personal life that makes the story all the more interesting. Toward the end is a hint that there is another story to come from his aerial exploits. I sincerely hope that this is not just a tease and that a third book is on the way.

Enjoyable read 14 Mar 2006

The second volume of the author's career as an army pilot. He has recently converted from fixed wing aircraft to helicopters but when he helps a friend by ferrying a light aircraft from France, he is bitten by the urge to own his own aircraft. Woven through the story is an intriguing and unusual love story which is really quite good to read about. He has a truly engaging way of writing which I really enjoy, and there are far fewer spelling errors than in the first volume! Recommended if you are even slightly interested in aviation and wonder what it's all about.
