Format:Audio CD
Vai has been influenced by classical Indian music for this CD. He uses samples from Hindu texts and weaves his guitar around them in a way that only he can! This album can be taken as a distillation of Vai's style. There are tracks which cover all his myriad of style and quirks. But he always suffuses it with humour and jaw dropping virtuosity. There is a beautiful tribute to Frank Zappa called simply "Frank", a tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan "Jibbom" and there are songs interspersed amoungst the instrumentals. Other high-lights include a classic Vai tune "Fever Dream" which Vai wrote especially for his triple necked heart-shaped guitar! He said he wanted to look like wizard wielding a wand when he was performing it! But there is another classic here- "In Your Eyes" is going to be as great as "For the Love of God" is and has already won him a Grammy nomination. Get this CD, you won't be disappinted.

This album is simply incredible...not a single filler track, and all ofthem interspersed with ridiculously fast playing. I'll Be Around isprobably the higest point, one of the most beautiful songs i think he'swritten. The sheer variety is incredible, but if only it had a song likeJuice on it...that would make it so good, it should be a law to have it!

now...this IS steve vai - so don't expect ot love this as soon as you hear it. do not buy this if you only like the guitar aspect of his playing. While still showing incredible technique and originality this album (guitarwise) falls short of passion and warfare and fire garden - bt is compositionally much more dense. this shows steve vai take a step into a new direction with an asian feel to the whole album - through samples and such. very densely layered, textured songs make for a great listen, but no real guitar stunts im afraid.
