5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic book for new parents 19 April 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Its important to remember that children develop at different rates and are influenced heavily by their surroundings and parental upbringings. There’s lots of useful tips and advice, some of which are missed out in other books. Valuable things like dealing with separation anxiety and tantrums in public are covered well...I’ve seen that in my own kids, so it’s helpful to see how to tackle them more effectively.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dance With Your Child 15 April 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Oh how I wish I The Ultimate Toddler Manuel was around when my children were toddlers (they are young adults now!) because I can remember searching for info re effective re-assuring ways to raise my daughters yet always got bogged down and frustrated because the info was always in different books. The Ultimate Toddler is what all parents/relatives/carers need to read. period. Everything you need to know all in one place.

I like the way the author weaves in basic psychological theories to back up her work without overloading you with stats and judgmental opinions. I also appreciate the variety of practical examples, the author uses to demonstrates the various topics which makes it easier for you to relate to the teachings - e.g. potty training, sleep routine, dealing with tantrums in the check out queue. The chapter Caring for the Caregiver is essential reading and full of tips to look after yourself and ways to actively rest and chill/exercise with your child.

This book is full of helpful information for new parents. Just about anyone with a toddler will relate to this book and can take away useful tips and advice. There is info for tantrums, potty training and simply what is considered 'normal' behavior for toddlers.

5.0 out of 5 stars I wish I read this earlier 8 May 2014

I borrowed this book from the kindle lending library because my 22 month old has been throwing tantrums and I don't know how to deal with it. I wish I had read it a year ago, because it really has some great advice and some good framework for understanding where my daughter is developmentally. It teaches just enough child development psychology principles where I can apply them to situations at home and see immediate results without feeling like I'm starting a new masters degree.

There is information for older children entering school as well, and I know I will be referencing back many times.

After reading this book, I purchased it and I am now recommending it to all of my fellow parents of toddlers or soon to be toddlers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good book for young parents 30 April 2014

I have 2 kids aged 7 and 3 ... This book gave an assuring calmness that everything is fine and each child is different, Also covered are some topics like autism which with the media coverage puts us in to an over spin . It was also nice to see the kids dressing up themselves and handling the separation anxiety in a neat manner. Glad to have picked up this book. Thanks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Every Toddler Should Come With An Instruction Manual 18 April 2014
By James Irwin - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I felt this book does a good job of putting your mind to ease as a parent. We all spend so much time wondering if they should be doing this or that by a certain age. The reality is kids develop at their own pace and that pace is usually completely different than the kids that surround him. The book details and breaks down the different stages of childhood. As parents we are even reminded about how our child's behavior is a direct reflection of our own behavior.

One thing I loved is the author points out to not freak out by fashion. Let your kid dress themselves and stop being so concerned about what people think. It teaches your child to be their own person and that it is o.k. to be different. This is a great guide to raising a toddler and has an awesome section on potty training.

I've read more than several of these toddler parenting books. I was very impressed with this one. It gAve me lots of tips and info that I will take with me a a use! Additionally I was able to really appreciate the end of the book that went into detail about self care of parents to be able to take better care of child and family. My favorite was the discussion of meditation and yoga.
Thank you!
