Product Description

Product Description

Christians in Sport director Stuart Weir provides a fascinating, whistle-stop history to the Olympics from its origins in the Greece of 776BC, through the Olympian revival of the nineteenth century to the high-tech Olympic Villages of the 21st Century. This unique book has been written from a Christian perspective, focusing on some of the games' great Christian athletes such as Eric Liddell and Jonathan Edwards, and relating the Olympic ethos to the Gospel. Stuart Weir looks at the personalities who have made these events so fascinating to watch from those who are merely in it for the joy of competing such as 'Eddie the Eagle' through to medal winning household names such Steve Redgrave, Jesse Owens and Steph Cook. He also looks at some of the lows that have hit the Olympics from drug taking to disqualification's and injuries as well as some of the amazing trivia and facts associated with the Olympics from the oldest and youngest competitors to the oddest.

About the Author
