I bought this book based on Richard Peace's Cycling Southern France which is a great guide that is a very well put together, based on an appealing blend of text and maps. Although Devon Coast to Coast is by the same author and the same publisher, it fails to impress. One suspects that the publisher is at fault since it feels like a bit of a cheap production. On the plus side, it does have accommodation details (though these are liable to date and can be easily obtained elsewhere).

This small, well produced guide book will be of real value to anyone thinking of doing the Devon Coast to Coast cycle ride. Lots of information and maps. It is comprehensive with much more information than i expected.

The only slight downside is that the large scale maps are a bit lacking in detail and it took me a while to get to grips with the layout of the route and the relevant maps for each stage.

That might just be me. Otherwise a great little book.

This is my first such guide and I used it last week to lead me on the trail. It was OK and to be fair, the trail is probably being updated and improved all the time, so it must be difficult to keep the book up to date. However, there were times when, for example if the trail had 2 different possible routes through an area, that the book was quite confusing. Also, maps and narrative seem to jump about so it is not coherent. Information on gradients was excellent though. Overall, not as helpful as I had hoped.
