Whilst there's no denying this latest EMI CD of Vince Hill's work is never less than an enjoyable listen, it is disappointing that only 4 of his 10 hits for the label have been included, given the title of the CD.

Lots of covers of classic 70's songs prevail instead (Nilsson's Without You, Don McLean's Vincent et al) - all fine but they hardly improve on the original versions.

EMI has issued two CDs in previous years which include all the hits - whilst they remain out of print, Vince's more obscure hits are nigh impossible to get hold of.

There are a couple of cheaper CDs available with all the hit songs on, but they are not the original recordings from the 1960's.

Vince Hill deserves a better fate than to be saddled with this mish mash.Play safe covers which eveybody from Andy Williams downwards has done.
Yet Hill did important work-the drawing room ballad Roses of Picardy and his version of the soul stomper The River's Run Dry.
This is the man who was a Raindrop along with Len Beadle,Johnny Worth and Jacqueline Lee.The Ultimate should have begun here and led to his hits like Eidelweiss before phasing out
