Although few sports movies are true classic. Most follow a similar formula down at heal team/player suffers setback, overcomes adversity, but somehow pulls through in the end. But I, like many, have a soft spot for them, even though most focus on games played on the other side of the pond.
The comment on the back cover says it all; they "tug on all the different emotions that make us feel alive. We step into the athletic shoes of the heroes and feel their doubt, dedication, despair, and triumph ... we hang on every plot twist, groan with every setback and cheer with unbridled joy when victory is achieved."
All my favourites are here, so that's a good thing, although as with all books of this nature they're often a little too far down the running order for your liking. But that's OK, everyone has their own opinion. At least the authors provide their own justification and offer a great insight into each and every entry.
The extras, short feature lists and articles with well known actors and sports stars, are also interesting and occasionally enlightening.
Well worth the asking price.
