I'm giving this a 3-star neutral review, because it wasn't special enough to call itself "ultimate" and there are mistakes in some of the patterns.
This is a lovely book of baby and toddler knitting patterns, if you don't already own any.
However, there are relatively few of the patterns I would use, partly because many of them would cost the best part of £50-£100 to knit, using Debbie Bliss yarns!
As pointed out by previous reviewers, many of the patterns only come in specific sizes - e.g. toddlers, rather than "baby knits", as the book's title might suggest.
Also, many of the designs seem to be unnecessary tweaks on classic designs, where the tweaks serve to complicate, rather than add to the finished product.
I have knitted up 3 of the designs so far and found the baby booties (3-6 months) were big enough to fit my 3 year-old. Admittedly, my tension can be slightly loose, but it's not that bad!
I have also found errors in two of the other patterns so far, including one that simply wouldn't knit correctly, no matter what I tried.
However, this is generally a lovely book with plenty of arty photos of the knits and some lovely new designs for coats and jackets, which you don't normally see. ("Search inside" would be really helpful to prospective buyers!)
I'm not sure I'll be trying out the knitted knickers and trousers but, at the price, this is a good, varied collection of baby and toddler knits from one of the UK's favourite knitwear designers.
