The USA and Vietnam 1945-75
This title provides a thorough and lucid account of America's involvement in Vietnam during the period 1945-75. It starts with an introduction to the events that led to France's withdrawal from Vietnam and US support of Diem's government and goes on to examine how the conflict escalated and the USA became fully involved. The book also looks at the pressure for peace on the US home front and how this had an impact on the eventual withdrawal and fallout from the war. The role of key figures in the conflict, both American presidents and Vietnamese leaders, is analysed throughout.

The best book I have ever read concerning the Vietnam war. The layout made it very easy reading and easy to make notes from. I used this book as the basis of my A-Level unit on the war in Vietnam and this book helped me achieve an A grade. Well worth the read!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellant resource! 28 Sep 2002
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
I am currently using this book as part of my GCSE course and have found it so far to be a necessary point of reference. Information is clearly laid out for easy reference but this book contains a level of detail unseen in many other textbooks.

The content of this book not only makes it suitable for school use, but also for the general reader wishing to learn more about Vietnam, how america got involved and why they didn't win.

5.0 out of 5 stars Recommended 7 Jun 2009
Format:Paperback
This book is well written, informative and very useful for anyone doing A-level history. It's relatively interesting in contrast to most textbooks and is highly accessible. Sets a standard for all history textbooks. Particularly helpful if your history teacher is incompetent!

The summary diagrams are a good source of revision and it is broken up in a useful way.
