Book Description

13 Sep 2012 1408164892 978-1408164891 2nd Revised edition
What does all this stuff about flying saucers amount to? What can it mean? What is the truth?' Winston Churchill, prime minister's personal minute, 28th July 1952

The UFO Files tells the story of over 100 years of UFO sightings, drawing on formerly secret government documents at the National Archives in London. Alongside extraordinary reports by ordinary people, it reveals details of official interest and investigations stretching back more than 80 years.

In this remarkable book, fully updated for this second edition, David Clarke reveals an array of startling stories from possible UFO reports hidden among Met Office investigations of aerial phenomena in the 1920s to the conclusions of Project Condign, the secret British Intelligence UFO study completed in 2000.

As well as covering Roswell and Britain's own Rendlesham Forest mystery, Clarke raids the records for dramatic stories of abductions and close encounters, ghost aircraft and crop circles, and UFO reports by both civilian aircrew and military personnel. Dramatic witness statements and interviews combine with rarely seen photographs, drawings and newly available documents to offer a unique guide to one of our most intriguing mysteries.

Review

Oh my God, what a belter of a book. This is just something else. If ever a book had to be read then it s this one. Make no bones about it, this book will go down as a classic of all UFO Books... this could well be the best British book on UFOs ever written... Buy it now and find out what has been going on in the British skies. You re in for a shock. --Malcolm Robinson, Strange Phenomena Investigations (SPI)

The new edition, like the first, provides a reasoned examination of UFO reports, avoiding the extravagancies of believers, and the total dismissal of skeptics… For anyone starting to take an interest in the subject who, in these cash strapped times, can only afford to buy one book on ufology, this is it. Highly recommended to everyone else. --Peter Rogerson, Magonia Blog and Review of Books

Interesting run through the history of UFO sightings and cultural shifts in attitudes towards the unexplained during the last century . The central stem is the releasing of files from the national archives . An interesting coffee table read .
