4.0 out of 5 stars A great ending 6 Nov 2011
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was full of pace, emotion and drive. Loved the conclusion. I love it when a villian emotes a genuine sense of revulsion in me, and they certainly did.

Still alittle miffed at Ashi's seeming deskill, but on the whole a great conclusion. The trek and monster in the jungle were particularly thrilling. A fine recovery to the trilogy, and whilst I still maintain it's not as good as the dragon below, it's well worth a read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Sad Ending to a Great Series 10 Sep 2010
By Bill Wimsatt - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I am truly sad that I finished this series. I wanted much more but am happy to have a complete series and not just some run on work. This particular book the series is the best IMHO. I felt true wrath with the Dragonmarked Houses, and with the goblin king. It is rare that I burst out vocally when reading, but in this one I actually burst out and had to describe a scene to one of my daughters. The helplessness described got my blood boiling and I was out of breath from one of the parallel stories running. I could not put the novel down. I was pulling for Ashi and disgusted by what happened to Senen. When you have true feelings for the characters in the story, the author has done his job.

Thumbs up! I am off to read George RR Martin's series now, and plan to work on the Dragon Below trilogy after that. I am a bit afraid to read earlier works by Don Bassingthwaite, as they may not hold up the standard I have after these books. Tyranny of Ghosts is a great closure to the series and well worth the read.

A great book, many times I was doubting with the characters whom they could trust. It had me aching more and more with each page how they would solve all these seemingly impossible problems of theirs. A great ending I loved it!
