Product Description

Product Description

This is a reprint of the book first published 23 years ago which has been long out of print but much sought after by those who want to know the true story of Helen Duncan, the woman behind the last conviction under the Witchcraft Act, in 1944. Written in two parts, the first part by her daughter Gena tells the true story of this remarkable woman. Her many gifts of clairvoyance, clairaudience and precognition have all been overshadowed by the publicity relating to the physical materialisation side of her mediumship. Nothing has been written before, of her unselfish love for humanity, her devotion to her husband and family, her personal and private joys and tragedies, her physical and emotional suffering. Gena relates the whole story of her mother’s mediumship, her early life, the deterioration in her health and her ultimate passing, due in no small measure to the stress endured as a result of police prosecution and imprisonment. The second part of the book, researched by Kay Hunter details the trial at the Old Bailey in 1944 from the account made by Maurice Barbanell at the time.

The SNU have taken a lot of slack about not supporting Helen through the very difficult episodes in her life, how she dealt with the court case in Edinburgh, as well as The Old Bailey and how it came about.

Not many of us knew about Edinburgh, but, it tells all and how she didn't deal with it and att the same time how her family were struggling with the Judges ruling as well as Helens new life!

The first half of this book was an unstoppable read that came from the heart of her family about Helens life, her love life & her children,I personally could not put it down.

Her daughter explains how she dealt with personal loss and also how she worked herself into the ground to provide proof of survival for others.
Also how her family and husband did not force her in to tests, but, actually tried to talk her out of them.

Her Family were obviously, very Mediumistic, and through Helens Trials, were not encouraged to take their Spiritual and Psychic Lives any further.

If you would like to read a "very" heartfealt biogrophy about an obviously poor lady, who worked for everything she had and I have to say the first Medium in the UK who paid income tax.

The 2nd half of the book is done by a reporter. who is very much for the Duncan family, very down to earth and staright forward.

Helen Duncan wanted nothing but to prove continuous life, and unfortuneately through, abuse of her life, ill health, poverty and trying to please others died a very sad death.

Her family and Helen are still very much alive and still very much with us.

All I can say is watch this space, for Helen to prove what she always preached was true................Eternal Life!

Interesting account 23 Nov 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is an interesting account of Helen Duncan's life. She was undoubtedly a gifted medium, and was treated very badly by many people who were in a position to do her harm. Perhaps part of her mission on earth was to shake up the unfair laws against mediums, and therefore her spirit guides allowed her to be exposed to harm. Some of the events, however, raise doubts about whether her "sponsoring" spirits were out of their depth. It shows that we are all struggling to evolve by our own efforts and with help from spirits who are more advanced, but not perfect. Certainly worth pondering.
