As with the other early series of the great Two Ronnies the format is more of a variety show than the later shows.
This is not my favourite of the Two Ronnies series, mainly because there are only two of the iconic musical numbers that I love so much - they are "Jehosophat and Jones" and "The Short and Fat Minstrel Show".
There is no running serial though series 3 either.
There are, however, a number of skits on the top TV shows of the time (Upstairs Downstairs, Onedin Line, etc), as well as political and social comments. As always there are the usual "news" items at the beginning and end of each show and Mr Corbett's monolgues.
Pan's People prance about for 4 or 5 minutes, and there is a song for each episode from a different singer or group.
Many of the jokes are not to the standard of the current PC treads, but as a study into the sociological and political aspects of the early 1970s (27 September 1973 - 3 January 1974) this box set is a gem.
Not one of the best series, but still worth having.
