About the Author

The Two Ronnies first met in the early 1960s writing and performing with the likes of John Cleese on the Frost Report. The Two Ronnies was launched in 1971 and became a national institution until they called it a day in the mid-eighties. Much of the material was written by Ronnie Barker but there were classic contributions from the likes of Spike Mullins, Peter Vincent and David Renwick. Ronnie Barker also starred in Porridge and Open All Hours, while Ronnie Corbett made his name with the sitcom Sorry! I don't need to say too much about this. Everything on it works. 'The Complete Rook' is my favourite sketch, despite the somewhat weak climax. You will laugh a lot, for the entire duration of both discs. And it's great to listen to time and time again. CLASSIC. GET IT.

Good quality jokes and fantastic sketches. It was just what I wanted. Recommended if you like good quality, non vulgar comedy.

When I saw the previous reviews on this product, I thought I was going to get something quite comprehensive that would help me give lots of examples of comedy sketches to the children I teach in Drama. How misled was i???

What I have received was nothing more than a pamphlet, containing just 6 sketches - No News Headlines, no Corbett monologues, in fact nothing of any popular notage (Four candles, Ministry of Mispronunciation etc).

To say I was disappointed when I saw how thin the package was and what was inside it, is an understatement!

Do not buy this if you think you are getting what the other reviewers have commented on. What did they get that I didn't? Why has this not been flagged by anyone else before me?

I never write reviews on Amazon but am so unhappy with my purchase, I felt I had to air my misery!

LITTLE BOOK, BIG LAUGHS! 7 Feb 2007

Collectors beware. If, like me, you already have all the Two Ronnies' joke books from the 1970s, plus Ronnie Barker's excellent anthology "All I Ever Wrote", then you really don't need this "best of" collection.

Still, it's a nice variety of material from their long running BBC TV series: their "news" jokes, sketches, and monologues, but, regrettably, NOT their musical parodies, perhaps for space reasons. Also, there's an unfortunate tendency to just pull random lines out of Ronnie Corbett's shaggy dog stories, spoiling the effect somewhat.

HOWEVER...If you judge it on its OWN merits...as a convenient, pocket-sized sampler and affectionate souvenir of the duo's comedy it's very good, and DEFINITELY very funny. A final GOOD night from "Me" (Ronnie Corbett) and "Him" (Ronnie Barker). Bless 'em.

While I enjoyed this book, I found it fell short of the title description. Only some of the sketches were included and many were of the same type.
"The Two Ronnies" was a versatile series of acts and, had I not been around to see them on TV, I would think from the book that they had a limited range of comedy.
The delivery of the book was prompt and ahead of predicted date.
And it's goodnight from me

A delightful collection of their comedic works. Funny. Converted the cassette to CD format before uploading to computer and I-pod player.
