Product Description

2011 Retailers Choice Award winner!
As the apocalyptic leaders of Iran call for the annihilation of Israel and the U.S., CIA operative David Shirazi is sent into Tehran with one objective: use all means necessary to disrupt Iran’s nuclear weapons program, without leaving American fingerprints and without triggering a regional war. At extreme personal risk, Shirazi executes his plan.
A native Farsi speaker whose family escaped from Iran in 1979, he couldn’t be better prepared for the mission. But none of his training has prepared Shirazi for what will happen next. An obscure religious cleric is suddenly hailed throughout the region as the Islamic messiah known as the Mahdi or the Twelfth Imam. News of his miracles, healings, signs, and wonders spreads like wildfire, as do rumors of a new and horrific war.
With the prophecy of the Twelfth Imam seemingly fulfilled, Iran’s military prepares to strike Israel and bring about the End of Days. Shirazi must take action to save his country and the world, but the clock is ticking.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thrilling Modern Day End Times Scenario.... 28 Oct 2010
Format:Hardcover
Wow! This book reads more like fact then fiction with today's headlines, "Tension rises in the Middle East as the leaders of Iran call for the destruction of Israel and the United States...."

In "The Twelfth Imam," tensions do rise as radical leaders of Iran are fixed on their "divine" responsibility to usher in their Messiah, the twelfth Imam by calling for the destruction of Israel and the United States.

David Shirazi, a disguised CIA operative is sent into the heart of Tehran to interrupt Iran's nuclear weapons program and stop Iran's plans to kill millions.

Soon rumors spread like wildfire across the Middle East that a religious leader has begun performing miracles and healings and is the prophesized Islamic messiah known as the Mahdi or the Twelfth Imam.

David Shirazi must act fast to save his country and the world as Iran prepares to strike Israel and bring about the End of Days....

According to the Shiite version of Islam the 12th descendant of Mohammed, known as the 12th Imam or the Mahdi, went into hiding some 1300 years ago. He is said to have gone into what Shiites call occultation, a kind of suspended state from which it is believed he will return. Shiites believe he will reappear before the Day of Judgment alongside prophet Isa, (Jesus) and will rid the world of wrongdoing, injustice and tyranny.

If you enjoy books on the end-times, be sure to check out Joel's other books such as The Ezekiel Option, The Copper Scroll, and Dead Heat.

4.0 out of 5 stars The first of a trilogy. 12 April 2013
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This sets the scene for the whole trilogy. It is a fast moving thriller, which starts with the Iranian seizure of the American Embassy in Teheran and moves to a family at a remote campsite wondering why their transport to take them home hasn't arrived. The book ends with an extraordinary (and impossible!) chase.

“He who knows not, and knows not that he knows not, is a fool; shun him,” Birjandi said, seemingly out of the blue. “He who knows not, and knows that he knows not, is a child; teach him. He who knows, and knows not that he knows, is asleep; wake him. He who knows, and knows that he knows, is wise; follow him.” "e;

Some say all the infidels—especially the Christians and the Jews—must be converted or destroyed before he is revealed and ushers in a reign characterized by righteousness, justice, and peace. Others say Muslims must prepare the conditions for the destruction of the Christians and the Jews, but that the Mahdi will finish the job himself. But know this, O ye faithful: when he comes, the Promised One will bring Jesus with him as his lieutenant. Jesus will command all the infidels who are still standing to bow down to the Mahdi or die.’” "e;

The Twelfth Imam, Dr. Birjandi explained, was not a mythical character or a fictional construct. He was a real, flesh-and-blood person who had lived in the ninth century and would someday reemerge to change the course of history. Born in Samarra, Iraq, in or around the year 868, his name was Muhammad Ibn Hasan Ibn Ali. Like the eleven Shia Muslim leaders who went before him, Muhammad was a direct descendant of the founder of Islam and was thought to have been divinely chosen to be the spiritual guide and ultimate human authority of the Muslim people. "e;
