3.0 out of 5 stars Not for me 4 Oct 2013
By Paul
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I should have paid more attention to other reviews. The detective aspect is the dominant one and more than a little gory in parts but everything gets compared to Dan Brown it seems, so long as there is any historical secret in any capacity.

So if you want a predominately detective story, this seems well-written enough by Sam (Samantha?) and you will probably love the hunt for the serial killer etc. If, like me, you want something more of the Ben Hope, Cotton Malone type quester for a lost relic then you will probably be better served elsewhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars Relentless pace and great story telling 13 July 2013
Format:Paperback
I was expecting another Dan Brown type book, when in fact the novel has two parallel threads; a straight(ish) detective story about LA cops tracking a heinous serial killer, alongside the thread about the Turin Shroud.
The two story lines are brilliantly intertwined and more importantly keep the pace and action flowing and weaving.
One measure of a good book is whether you care about the characters and what happens to them, I wanted the good guys to come through and was sufficiently engaged by the other characters' story lines too.
Yes there are plot flaws and some obvious elements, but nothing that made the book less enjoyable for me.
Now I am going to buy his other books.

3.0 out of 5 stars Turin Shroud 7 Jun 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Having read The Stonehenge Legacy I was a little disappointed with this novel as it was really just a detective story, with the Shroud just thrown in to bolster the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't Put It Down 26 Mar 2012
By Galning
Format:Paperback
Having read the existing reviews "yes" there is a monk in this book (which has clearly drawn parallels with the Da Vinci Code) - but otherwise, NOT the same.

This book initially centres around The Creeper - a serial killer who quotes latin scripture and then binds his mutilated victims in sheets. It's only when The Creeper is found to have murdered someone involved in a screenplay about the Shroud that the police start to dig into the Shroud's background.

Apart from the fact that the Shroud is reputed to be a Da Vinci fake I don't see how this book could be viewed as a poor mans DVC.

At the end of the day there are only so many plot variations to a thriller / romance / vampire novel etc etc - but a story well told can overcome any plot similarities. I'd recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Riveting Good Read 25 Mar 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Not read any Christer books before, dropped on the Camelot Code in a charity shop, couldn't put it down once started. Searched high and low for others in similar establishments without gain so bought The Turin Shroud Secret and the Stonehenge Legacy new from Amazon.
Just finished the The Turin Shroud Secret and about to start on Stonehenge Legacy. A well written book and full of suspense and intrigue and well researched historical detail. Rivals Dan Brown in my opinion.
Graham Clark.
