This is an amazing piece of art. Season 3 follows Henry through his marriages with Jane Seymour and Anne of Cleves, however the soundtrack does seem to focus more on Jane Seymour and how Henry copes with her death. All of Jane's tracks are light, simple yet beautiful, suiting her personality as a kind and gentle figure. Yet alongside these tracks is a more serious side where the music has a more sober and urgent sound as Henry has to deal with the Pilgrimage of Grace who are slowly becoming a threat. By far the most beautiful track has to be 'A Howling Wilderness/The Death of Jane Seymour', which with its ethereal choir and heartwrenching tune has made myself and many others burst out into tears as we feel Henry's pain at the death of his beloved wife. It is quite literally breathtaking and heartbreaking. There is also a piano version 'Jane Seymour's Theme', which whilst not as effective is still a pretty tune.
The tracks then start to become more darker and sombre as Henry mourns his loss, almost succumbing to madness and his court starts to fall apart without it's King. Things soon start getting better when Henry comes back to court again and we are treated to a tender and lovely track 'Meet Prince Edward' before the music starts to become more sombre again with the demise of Cromwell before the whole thing is finished with a slightly exotic, upbeat piece 'A New Temptation' which teases us with what we can expect from new wife Katherine Howard next season.
It is simply an amazing creation and I would say it is the best soundtrack of all the seasons. Trevor Morris is pure genuius and it was a pleasure to listen to. Money well spent.
