A great read, which is badly needed with the overwhelming number of books supporting clairvoyance, psychic powers and such like. Contrary to what some might believe, Randi realises that while showing a non supernatural technique for accomplishing Geller like feats, logically this does not prove this is how Geller performs them. While he obviously believe this, he provides alternative explanations for what people witness. In the true nature of science, we must choose his, simpler hypothesis - that it is a skillful illusion, not the manifestation of unproven, untestable psychic powers.
Maybe a little rough around the edges, as Randi is not a professional writer, anyone who enjoyed "Flim Flam", would also enjoy reading this. The newly updated version is a nice improvement on the older edition.
By the way, contrary to what some reviewers believe, Randi has no need to investigate David Copperfied or skilled surgeons - they don't claim to have supernatural powers, Copperfield never seriously expects you to believe what has occured actually happened, just that he has skillfully created the illusion that it has. The surgeon uses modern medical techniques to heal people, not witchcraft. They *never* claim that they are contravening the laws of physics, unlike Geller. Extraordinary claims demand extraordinary evidence.
