About the Author

Dr. Philip Gyang Asante has a PhD in Biblical Studies, a Master's Degree in Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy. Deeply passionate about ending racism, he believes that the Church, the body of Christ, has an obligation to speak up against what he calls "one of the most divisive issues on the planet" Dr. Asante is the son of a black African father and a white English mother, and he was oblivious to the issues of race until he attended high school. Having experienced a great deal of racism himself, he can relate to the emotions and the injustice that this evil construct produces. Dr. Asante has been happily married for the past twenty-five years to a beautiful wife; he is also very blessed to have two wonderful grown up children.

Dr Asante writes passionately but clearly about a blot on Western society and the Christian church. He writes as a Bible-believing Christian. His father is a successful professional man from Ghana. His mother is English. He knows about his subject from personal experience but he has done the hard graft of researching his subject historically, scientifically and biblically. His analysis is thorough and balanced, but disturbing. His focus is prejudice on the basis of skin pigmentation by "white" Europeans and North Americans against "black" Afro-Carribeans but in particular those doing so in the name of Christ.

I highly recommend this book because its message needs to be heard. He shows, for instance, how perceptions have been skewed eg not portraying the ancient Egyptians as dark-skinned Africans, children's books portraying Jesus Christ as if he were a European and omitting to point out the famous scientists, inventors, artists, etc who are Afro-Carribean.

He shows both how biblical passages have been misused to justify racism and the devastating impact of Darwinian thought on modern perceptions. He trumpets the fact that the Bible speaks of only one race: the human race. We are all descended from Adam and Eve! How ironic that modern science has just caught up with the fact that human beings all have common ancestory. He also proclaims the saving power of the Gospel. In Christ the bigot and the racist (whatever their colour) can know their sins forgiven because God so loved the whole world and Jesus lived and died to rescue us from sin and hell.

Wonderfully written; an education which takes the reader easily through the oft uncomfortable areas that everyone ought to address within themselves as well as culturally. Thank you Dr Asante for bringing this book to us!

This is a marvellous book of theology and hermeneutics. It is well researched and written by Dr. Phil with great perspicacity. Colonisers used Missionaries with their Bibles and Catechisms to 'tame' and 'civilize' the colonised 'savages' ( who happened to be people of colour, mainly black ), and in so doing subjugated and enslaved them, whilst they themselves did not practise what they preached and inculcated.
Dr. Asante has excellently dealt with the various nefarious aspects of racism from the Slave Trade through to Racial Segregation, Apartheid, the Ku Klux Klan and present day Institutional Racism.
It is a very readable book, and I recommend it.

This is a beautifully articulate, lucid and logical analysis of how evil and unscrupulous individuals have misinterpreted the Scriptures to suit their own agenda. I was not aware that The Slave Trade, referred to as 'The Black Holocaust', involved the tragic mistreatment of 100 million Black Africans but I am aware that, unlike the Jewish Holocaust, the Church Authorities have NEVER been held accountable for their involvement. Similarly, the evil of Apartheid was implemented by amoral and despotic Christian individuals who abused the Scriptures to ensure white domination in South Africa.

This is a powerful analysis and will help ensure that Racism will be combatted in our lifetime. Reading intelligent books civilizes mankind and I urge every person to inform themselves fully on the disgraceful Racism episodes in world history. At times, we have demonstrated that mankind can be perceived, at its worst, as a low form of life but the author's humanity shines through on every page.

After being recommended to read this book by a colleague I started reading The Truth about Racism by Dr. Philip G Asante this morning and within 5 minutes I was completely captivated. It's so rare to find a book so well written & enlightening that can provoke so many different emotions. This book will give you a rigorous insight into the highly-controversial topic that is racism, its origins, and how to deal with it from a Christian perspective. A true masterpiece and 2014 MUST READ! This astonishing book will undoubtedly leave you speechless.

Dr. Asante I would love to read more of your work; this book really demonstrates how passionate you are on the subject and your conscientious efforts in bringing this message out to the public are truly admirable. Fortunately I managed to find you on twitter so I am very much looking forward to following your future endeavours! Best of luck!

This work by Dr Philip Asante, has brought to the table things we need to discuss in the true light of the scriptures, yes it will be uncomfortable to some but one thing I've learned in life, truth will always manifest no matter how long it takes to come to the surface. When one looks at the Bible in the true light of how it was written for the human race, how can you dispute the revelations shared by Dr Asante? I believe he wrote from a place of experiences and the most compelling for me under divine instructions. I believe this work is and will become a valuable tool for the future and I'll be referring back to his work during my teaching and preaching of the word of God. Thank you Dr Asante, may God continue to bless your ministry.
