I'm really ambivalent about this book. To say it's being distributed practically for free, I feel a bit guilty saying anything too harsh.

Basically, as another reviewer stated, you DO care for the characters and you DO want to know what happens to them. Even though they are at times inexplicably heroic, then inexplicably stupid, then have inexplicably Mills and Boon sex at the least appropriate time possible.

The idea behind the threat was interesting and it would have been nice to get more of a view of the history between Humanity and Sartan, rather than the hasty exposition that was crudely tacked on right at the end of the book. Having said that, the plot did require a certain level of mystery and the author carried it off well.

It's not terribly well-written to be honest, but then nobody is expecting Nebula Prize winning stuff here. It was a likeable story that had both ambition and imagination, so it gets four stars from me.

I nearly stopped reading when I learnt what Sarten was, but I'm so glad I continued. It's a gripping read, very science fiction based, with believable developed characters and many twists.

I can only repeat what others have said. Fantastic gripping read and what a medical thriller/suspense genre should be like. I cannot wait to see what the author has up his sleeve next. Waiting in ANTICIPATION! Raphael Hirsch............you are up there with the best Ken Mcclure, Crichton and Robin Cook.

If you’re not too sure of the difference between imaginative and far-fetched, I suggest you read this book as it will give you a clue. Although it’s quite good fun, this is comic book stuff with one dimensional characters. The plot includes the usual American favourites – conspiracy theories and cover-ups – so it will no doubt appeal to many readers. However, I suspect that others are likely to find it rather unsubstantial.

My goodness, you actually cared for the characters and the plot line was very novel. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. A real page turner if ever I saw one.

Easily worth more than the asking price, easily! I doubt you'd be disappointed in this book even if sci-fi isn't your bag. Like a thriller? This is for you. Like sci-fi? This is for you. Like something to think about? This is for you.

Oh, the blurb is wrong. Dr. Newman's discovery did not unleash a cancer epidemic on the world. Sometimes wonder who does the blurb for some of these books. I tell you this because it made me think it was going to be along the lines of 'I am Legend', and it isn't.

I am a fan of this type of fiction and this didn't disappoint. I would definitely recommend it if you like this genre. It isn't the usual plot where one doctor/scientist has a twisted motive. Here cancer itself is the enemy, and it becomes a race against time to find the answer before the human race as we know it is wiped out!!
