A must buy for anyone interested and researching the history of Freemasonary.
I could provide a personal review of the book, but the reviews published in the Masonic press sum it up pretty well ...

"Although the history of Freemasonry is "to a great extent obscure," Dr. David Harrison has produced a detailed historical work which might well be used as a reference for the serious student of Masonic history during the two hundred years after the formation of the first Grand Lodge. From the makeup of its membership to the "revolt" which occurred after the United Grand Lodge was formed, this book is a wealth of difficult to obtain information!"

I have to declare an interest - I wrote the forward and Dave and I did the research for Chapter 3 together. It is possible to read any number of masonic histories that record in detail the Grand details happening at the centre. This book records the sort of happenings that could have been experienced by any brother in those days. For me it makes a fascinating read and is a great follow up to his first book 'The Genesis of Freemasonry'. A good buy for any Brother.
